More than a project More Than Us: A Vision from God, a work for all Pastor Kile Baker October 5th, 2025 Why this series matters: “More than us” is a vision series of what could be, fueled by our passion that it should be. What’s a vision series? A vision series is simply standing in a future that we believe God will bring about, and describing it to ourselves in the present, while having the passion to do our part to see it through. Nehemiah 12:43 On that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced because God had given them great joy. The women and children also celebrated, and Jerusalem’s rejoicing was heard far away. Nehemiah 3 The high priest Eliashib and his fellow priests began rebuilding the Sheep Gate. They dedicated it and installed its doors. After building the wall to the Tower of the Hundred and the Tower of Hananel, they dedicated it. 2 The men of Jericho built next to Eliashib, and next to them Zaccur son of Imri built. 3 The sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate. They built it with beams and installed its doors, bolts, and bars. 4 Next to them Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, made repairs. Beside them Meshullam son of Berechiah, son of Meshezabel, made repairs. Next to them Zadok son of Baana made repairs. 5 Beside them the Tekoites made repairs, but their nobles did not lift a finger to help their supervisors. 6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah repaired the Old Gate. They built it with beams and installed its doors, bolts, and bars. 7 Next to them the repairs were done by Melatiah the Gibeonite, Jadon the Meronothite, and the men of Gibeon and Mizpah, who were under the authority of the governor of the region west of the Euphrates River. 8 After him Uzziel son of Harhaiah, the goldsmith, made repairs, and next to him Hananiah son of the perfumer made repairs. They restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall. 9 Next to them….. 31 Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs to the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the upstairs room on the corner. 32 The goldsmiths and merchants made repairs between the upstairs room on the corner and the Sheep Gate. Nehemiah’s Time The work wasn’t just a difficult project, it was deeply personal. Each section of the wall was assigned to someone based on proximity to their own home. The bricks weren’t the story. The people were. They were a people, diversified in what they could do, and unified by God, in what they should do. What this series is about: This is where we make the shift. This campaign isn’t about buildings either. It’s about the people God has called us to reach. It’s about someone you know who needs Jesus. It’s about your ONE. They built the wall for someone they loved behind the wall. The wall was a symbol of protection for the people they loved behind it. Our Time - Here and Now God often brings together ordinary people like us, to do extraordinary things for His purposes. Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria & The ends of the Earth (Acts 1:8) This vision series is bigger than we think we can accomplish, bold enough that we need God to make it happen, and better if we do it together. Your private life devoted to God, should fuel your public life devoted to people. We don’t need anyone to reach everyone. We just need everyone to reach someone. Bottom Line: This isn’t an initiative about stone and steel. It’s about stories and souls. Every story starts with someone—and this story is about your one.
