We have a happiness problem. https://worldhappiness.report We think we’ll be happier if we change our: Perspective Relationship status Our sexual orientation Our gender View of God We need to rediscover the relationship between our identity and our sexuality. Identity:  A person’s characteristics or traits that makes them recognized or known. Sexuality: A person’s sexual attraction, attitude, and actions towards others Here’s what we can agree on: All people need love, and we need to do all we can to love them well. We need to be as kind as possible in what we say, and as clear as possible in what we mean. In this series, we’ll look at what has been defined and what has been redefined. What is defined by God is often redefined by humanity. You probably form your perspective on most, if not all things by interacting with them: Emotionally Relationally Theologically God gave us emotions to experience truth in a meaningful way. Perspective Question: How does this make me feel? God gave us relationships to experience love in a unique way. Perspective Question: Who does this affect that I care about? God gave us theology to understand the world, ourselves and Him in a truthful way. Perspective Question: What does God have to say about this? Where have you placed your identity? Christians believe identity is both personal and communal. Both of these identities are found “in Christ.” Personal Identity - Ephesians 2:1-10 Without Christ we are dead in our sin and destined to spend eternity apart from God and the people who love Him. “In Christ” we are holy, blameless, and fully alive, destined to spend eternity with God and the people who love Him. Communal Identity - 1 Corinthians 12:1-27 Without Christ we are self-seeking, self-gratifying individuals who minimize our own pain and suffering. “In Christ” we are other-seeking, other-gratifying individuals who are a part of the body of Christ that feel the pain and joy of others. Any identity that comes before “in Christ” is the wrong identity. When we place our identity “in Christ” we should also place every other aspect of our lives in there with Him. What kind of Christian are you?
